Weekend Chat 31 March 2013

215561_10150156966756445_7044587_nGrab a cup of coffee, find a comfy seat and discover some my favourite blog posts, films, etc from this past week.

Things to watch

Dr Who is back for a new series!  Gotta love the Doctor!  Quirky, funny, scary – I confess to being a fan!

At long last I have managed to see “Les Miserables“.  I wasn’t initially sure whether or not I liked the singing.  Not the actual songs – they are amazing.  But the “singing instead of speaking”.  It definitely grew on me, though.  Particularly the fact that the voices aren’t perfect adds something very special.  And Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen – hilarious!

Things to read

New blog in town: Restless Fingers are the musings of an adult TCK (Third Culture Kid) friend of mine.  She’s off to a great start.  I love her writing style and her thoughts on roots – do yours go deep or wide?

And here’s a post for anyone who has moved to a new city or country recently.  And what point do you feel settled?  Is it when you have found a place to live and all your stuff is more or less in place?  Does it depend on relationships?  On your job?  Or…?

Things to listen to

“A Tale of Two Cities”.  Charles Dickens’ famous novel as a BBC Radio 4 Afternoon Drama.  I downloaded the podcasts over a year ago and finally got round to actually listening to them.  I’m so glad I did!  They’re very good!  I have to confess I never read the book so don’t know how they compare.  Not sure the podcasts are still available but you can buy a cd.
